Episode 31, “Weaving Solidarity: The Art of Filmmaking as an Expression of Support" (hosted by Dr. LisaLinda Natividad) airs Friday, 8/20/10. Featured guests are Jennae Flores and Hermon Farahi, founder of "Artifact" (firstname.lastname@example.org). an independent research and media production organization, whose mission is to synthesize qualitative social research with documentary media (www.kickstarter.com/projects/psalms133/weaving-solidarity-indigenous-chamorro-movements-a). They have been in the Marianas for the past month to research and document the struggles of the Chamorro people as they confront ongoing militarization and the anticipated impacts of the military buildup. They discuss what motivated them to undertake this project, the philosophical underpinnings of their work and their on-the-ground experience with this stage of research and film-making in the Marianas. Mr. Farahi is finishing a MA in Anthropology and International Development at The George Washington University (GWU) in Washington DC. He holds an MA Certificate in Documentary Filmmaking from the prestigious Institute for Documentary Filmmaking at GWU.
